Well the title says it all! I can’t believe we are finally down to the last 2 months.
January was a blur. A month of checklists, meetings, a radio interview, a guest appearance on a podcast, car viewings and much time spent reading government guidance on what to do in the event of a ‘no deal Brexit’.
On the volunteer front we have made tremendous progress. We have 4 projects in Portugal, 3 in Spain, 2 in France and we are adding more to the itinerary every day.
Another major achievement for January was deciding how we would manage the children’s schooling whilst travelling. It’s one of the first questions we get asked by friends, family and strangers and finally I can say that it’s under control and there is no need for concern! I’m very proud to say the children will continue their studies through Wolsey Hall Oxford. With the use of an online platform and with the support of a student progress manager, as well as, various tutors they will continue their education at their own pace and in a flexible manner which will fit in with our lifestyle.
As if that isn’t enough, we’ve also managed to secure our tow car. For those of you who are new to our journey this was a sore point. Back in May we purchased a Volvo XC90, what we believed would be our tow car, but 5 months in and over £2000 of repairs later, we decided to call it quits. As we are now 2 months away from setting off and as a tow car is a pretty essential piece of kit for the journey we have planned we decided to take the plunge again. After much research and many test drives we settled on the Hyundai Santa Fe. Once again this is a 2nd hand vehicle (in our price range) so only time will tell if we’ve made a good choice. Fingers crossed!
That about sums it up but before I go there are a few people we need to thank…
We’ll be collecting the new caravan on the 8th of March, so to the teams at Adria UK and Venture Caravans thank you for all you have done and are doing in order to make this happen.
To the team at Protec Covers who are hard at work to provide us with a personalised towing jacket- Thank you!
To the Caravan and Motorhome Club who have gone out of their way to arrange campsites in Portsmouth as well as Santander whilst doing their best to find a way to provide insurance for an (essentially) homeless family – Thank you!
To the lovely Emma at BeautyKubes for making sure this fam has super shiny hair (whilst doing our bit for the environment). Thank you 💚
And finally, to our friends, family and followers who have been there for all the ups and downs – a big, massive, humongous THANK YOU!
That’s all for now…for those of you wondering what’s happened to our YouTube channel-it’s on hold for the time being (for a very good reason) and I promise to share why next month.
Until next time…
